Lifecycle analysis for a leading automotive manufacturer
TDi Sustainability was tasked by a leading vehicle manufacturer to develop a management tool to compare the sustainability attributes of materials in its supply chain.
1. Development of a Sustainable Materials Index
The project aimed to create a system to measure and compare the sustainability attributes of materials in the client’s supply chain.
The resulting Sustainable Materials Index would inform purchasing decisions and support the client’s responsible sourcing corporate strategy.
2. Evaluation of Sustainability Attributes
The client sought to assess the sustainability attributes of textiles, plastics, and metals used in manufacturing automobiles across its brands.
The project addressed environmental issues associated with these materials, such as carbon emissions, energy intensity, air quality, water use, and waste generation.
3. Practical Methodology Development
TDi developed a practical methodology to capture Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data in the supply chain, enabling quantification and aggregation of data for corporate-level presentation.
The methodology aligned with group-wide targets related to GHG emissions, water reduction, waste elimination, and sustainable materials.
