Development of the Solar Stewardship Initiative

The Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) was set up by TDi in partnership with Solar Power Europe and Solar Energy UK.
The SSI is a solar-specific supply chain assurance scheme designed to enhance confidence in the manufacturing of solar products and ensure compliance with international environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
TDi’s involvement in the SSI project includes various strategic and operational aspects essential for its successful execution:
Creation and implementation:
TDi was tasked with facilitating the design and implementation of the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) project, starting from initial research and strategy development to the creation of standards, code of conduct, pilot study, assurance system, grievance mechanism, and ongoing support through an independently verified third-party assessor approval process.
Role on the SSI Secretariat:
TDi is part of the permanent secretariat of the SSI, and several members of the team sit on the Secretariat, providing ongoing strategic and operational support.
Communication:
TDi developed and manages the SSI’s website, and the TDi team provides ongoing day-to-day support for the initiative. This includes advising on the SSI’s annual communications plan, coordinating crisis communications , attending and speaking at events on behalf of the SSI, and producing literature and designing documentation.
