A research paper and online portal for the OECD on trends in public stakeholder reporting for mineral supply chains
TDi collaborated with the Directorate for Financial and Enterprise Affairs at the OECD to research and write a paper on trends in public stakeholder reports for mineral supply chains. The paper aimed to provide examples of how risks of human rights abuses, conflict finance, and financial crimes in mineral supply chains are reported and what type of information on these issues is publicly available. The information gathered was useful for governments, companies, and civil society to understand and prioritise risks when conducting due diligence. The OECD plans to prepare future papers periodically and revise the methodology based on feedback and growing reporting on these issues.
Online Portal for Supply Chain Information
- The primary end users of this tool are envisioned to be downstream companies initiating or seeking to bolster their due diligence process.
- TDi conducted an allegation search in four distinct phases using an automated search with a specialised data scraper, a manual search, and an in-house allegation identification and monitoring system.

Responsible Sourcing Database
- The OECD commissioned TDi to produce an extensive database of publicly available information for responsible sourcing to aid companies’ due diligence.
Our contribution to the OECD Portal for Supply Chain Risk Information took three phases:
- First we established project processes, liaising with the OECD Secretariat to coordinate the initial data collection methodology and the data entry framework.
- We then gathered and analysed commodity-specific data for 42 raw supply chain materials, country-level risk information for 220 countries, and third-party risk reports for all assessed raw materials and commodity-supplying countries.
- Following this detailed research, we liaised with the OECD team responsible for establishing and maintaining the portal to ensure accurate presentation of our data online, and advised on how to best present this information for clarity and usability.
Client benefits and broader industry impact
The Portal supports the implementation of steps one and two of the five-step framework in the Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas produced by the OECD.
OECD Due Diligence Guidance
The OECD Due Diligence Guidance clarifies how companies can identify and manage risks throughout the entire mineral supply chain, from miners, local exporters and mineral processors to the manufacturing and brand-name companies that use these minerals in their products.
