The responsible mineral sourcing space, represented by organisations such as the LME, OECD, industry due diligence schemes, and other key stakeholders, has recognised a significant weakness in existing due diligence checks concerning the quantity and quality of auditors prepared to audit against the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.

TDi’s tailored training materials

  • LME contracted TDi to develop tailored training materials for two auditing summits in 2022 (Cologne) and 2023 (Paris).
  • The primary goal was to broaden the pool of auditors familiar with working with the OECD Guidance and deepen the expertise of those who already work with it regularly, whether as an auditor or a stakeholder that relies on audits such as national competent authorities and due diligence schemes.
  • TDi created both an introductory approach for the APSCA Summit in Cologne and an interactive, case study-based session for the OECD’s joint Auditor Summit with the LME in Paris.

Outcomes:

  • The two sessions laid the foundation for harmonising audit quality and expanding the availability of auditors experienced with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance.
  • The initial session at the APSCA Summit in Cologne attracted over 450 APSCA auditors, while the subsequent session at the OECD in Paris was attended by 80+ participants.
