Mining Indaba DAY 4 Roundup – Thursday 12 February 2026

The morning programme centred on three core areas:  

• First, discussions on future industry capability highlighted the importance of skills development and leadership pipelines, with the Young Professionals Programme emphasising the role of next-generation talent in shaping the sector’s long-term competitiveness and sustainability.  

• Second, country-focused sessions explored emerging mining jurisdictions, including Côte d’Ivoire, examining policy frameworks, recent mineral discoveries, and infrastructure strategies intended to support sustainable growth and attract investment.  

• Third, discussions on governance and regulatory environments reflected the continued industry focus on policy clarity, enabling frameworks, and institutional stability as prerequisites for investment confidence and project delivery. 

Collectively, the morning’s discussions reinforced a consistent message that has been emerging across the week. Africa’s mining potential is substantial, but realising this opportunity depends on coordinated action across skills development, infrastructure, governance, and capital mobilisation.  

Collaboration between governments, industry, and development partners was repeatedly framed as essential to building resilient mineral value chains for the continent, and ensuring responsible resource development that is inclusive and sustainable.
