The Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) is the first-ever supply chain sustainability assurance scheme dedicated to the needs of the solar PV sector and its customers.

TDi’s role with the SSI

TDi was tasked with facilitating the design and implementation of the SSI project, prior to launch, starting with initial research and strategy development to the launch of the initiative.

The TDi team sits on the SSI’s permanent secretariat, and has been subsequently been involved in the creation of the SSI standards, code of conduct, pilot study, assurance system, grievance mechanism, and provides ongoing support through an independently verified third-party assessor approval process.

  • Development of the SSI with key solar industry organisations
  • Several members of the TDi team are part of the SSI Secretariat, supporting its day-to-day coordination and functioning
  • Creation of management procedures and documentation
  • Development of the SSI ESG and Traceability Standards, and supporting documentation
  • Communications, website development and management and outreach
  • Running training courses and capacity building workshops for members
  • Speaking at events on behalf of the SSI
