IMOA Molybdenum Profile | 2025 Update
The ESG expectations for downstream companies from regulators and investors have evolved significantly since the Molybdenum Profile was first written in 2021. Molybdenum users are now required to understand and collect data in more detail on more and different ESG issues associated with their supply chains.
The objective of the updated version of the Molybdenum Profile is to provide standard setters, steelmakers, manufacturers and civil society organisations with a clear understanding of the current molybdenum supply chain, its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects, and the current voluntary sustainability standards, certifications and initiatives that are applicable to molybdenum.
The updated 2025 profile includes:
- Up to date and comprehensive data on the ESG risks associated with molybdenum production – including the addition of data on the saliency of each ESG issue associated with molybdenum production to allow profile users to improve their understanding and meet ESG expectations
- Updated data on risk management, due diligence and systems for responsible sourcing – including the latest sustainability standards, emerging sustainability trends and stakeholder expectations, and consequent implications for the molybdenum value chain
