Amy Marshall

Senior Marketing Specialist

Over the past 15 years, Amy has worked at the intersection of climate change, sustainability and communications, helping to translate complexity into actionable insights for businesses, governments and communities. Most recently, she was Advisory Director at Iroko Africa, leading the rollout of a 2025–2030 growth strategy for climate, carbon and energy advisory services across Africa. Prior to that, she spent five years at the National Business Initiative (NBI) as the Communications and Events Manager, where she managed communications for flagship sustainability programmes for the private sector and government across themes such as energy, water and climate change; and events such as managing the South African Pavilion at the UNFCCC COP Conferences each year.

Amy’s experience spans both sustainability consulting as well as strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, thought-leadership, media relations and event management for companies, government and NGOs. Prior to completing a PhD, Amy worked as a Sustainability Consultant in the climate change, renewable energy, community development and agroforestry sectors, with the common thread of supporting climate action and sustainable development.

Amy holds a PhD in Socio-Ecological Systems (SES) from the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg), an MSc in Environment, Science & Society from UCL (London) as well as a BA (Honours) in Geography and Environmental Science.
