Chinese Due Diligence Guidelines for Mineral Supply Chains (CCCMC)
The China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals and Chemicals Importers & Exporters (CCCMC)
Overview
The Chinese Due Diligence Guidelines for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains were developed by the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters (CCCMC) in cooperation with the OECD and launched in 2015 following a public consultation. The Guidelines are based on the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas and are intended to align the due diligence practices of Chinese companies with international standards and facilitate mutual recognition with existing international responsible-sourcing initiatives.
The Guidelines provide a framework for companies to identify, assess, prevent, mitigate and account for risks and adverse impacts in mineral supply chains. They apply broadly across mineral supply chains and address risks including human rights abuses, conflict, corruption and environmental impacts. Implementation of the Guidelines is voluntary, although they are also used as a reference point in responsible-sourcing programmes and audit initiatives, including requirements relevant to Chinese smelters and refiners.
