Overview

Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG) is an impact standard designed to support climate security and sustainable development. It provides principles, safeguards, requirements and methodologies that enable climate and sustainable development initiatives to measure, report, verify and certify their positive impacts, including contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Standard requires projects seeking Gold Standard certification to meet requirements relating to sustainable development, environmental and social safeguards, stakeholder engagement and impact monitoring. Gold Standard-certified activities must demonstrate a positive contribution to at least three SDGs, including SDG 13 (Climate Action). Independent validation and verification bodies assess projects against the applicable requirements, with Gold Standard overseeing the assurance and certification process. The Standard can be applied to a range of activities, including climate mitigation and adaptation projects, nature-based solutions, sustainable development initiatives and programmes.
